Primitive Methodist Chapel Print E-mail

The Primitive Methodist Chapel which stood on the corner of Wandsworth Bridge Road and Broughton Approach and on the opposite corner to the Star Cinema, was built in 1893. It was bought by Hammersmith and Fulham Council in 1968 and demolished in 1970. A new building was constructed to house a health centre and sheltered housing (1985).

Norma Halford nee Rogers (Pearscroft Road) remembers going to tap dancing lessons at the old Primitive Methodist chapel as a child. Norma Martin nee Harris, also formerly of Pearscroft Road, says that there was also a factory next to the Chapel which she thinks was called Litelug. Ex-Broughton Road resident Francis czucha remembers a factory housed in a blue building which lay derelict for some time and may have been damaged by fire.
