I had an absent father so grew up with my mother. We shared a house in Studdridge Street with my grandparents William and Marion Leicester (nee Hallums) . My grandfather was awarded the OBE for his work to the Post office Union. We lived two doors up from Christ Church where I went to Sunday school. I went to Brownies at St Matthews. My mother worked at the Sunlight laundry Head Office as a wages clerk. Her name was Dorothy Leicester. Sadly she passed away in 1973 aged 54. She also worked at Marsden’s the builders near St Matthews Church and Barbers in the North End Road and for a company in New Kings Road although I don't remember the name. From left to right: Me in the garden Studdridge Street; on the wall of our house in Studdridge Street waving at a wedding going past to the nearby church; riding my bicycle. I have done a bit of family history research. Some of my relatives lived in Chelsea and in Perrymead Street. I am still an avid Fulham supporter but I have my reasons which go back to senior school. I went on to Gilliatt and then nursed at Putney Hospital now closed down. My nurse training was at Putney Hospital and Bolingbroke Hospital Clapham Common before moving to Reading Berkshire. No other member of my family were in the Health Service apart from my godmother Gladys Jones who was also a nurse but I am not sure of the hospital From left to right: My Uncle, mother and grandparents and me in my pram; Grandmother and me in Studdridge Street; tea in with my aunt, grandparents and mum. I now Live in the Isle of Man and by chance met someone at work who also went to Peterborough and whose father was a teacher at Chelsea Central in Bagleys lane. He is still alive in his 90' and used to live in Wandsworth Bridge Road.
