I was very young when we moved to Stephendale Road. It was just before I started at Langford Road school so it must have been around 1957-58 time when I was about 5 years old. We had lived in Kilkie until then. Our house in Stephendale faced the corner of Lindrop street. Opposite was a grocer (F.Hine?), a newsagents named Ockendens and a greengrocer ( S. Ferris?). I found Philip Ockenden on "Friends Reunited" some time ago. He lived in Lindrop street.

My mum worked at Sunlight Laundry and also Fulham Gas works. My brother Nigel used to get coal for the old people in our road on a cart made from wood and pram wheels. He died a few years ago and was married to Linda White who also lived in Stephendale Road between Hazlebury Road and Wandsworth Bridge Road.

My best friend who went to Langford School with me was a Spanish Cockney from Gibraltar who also lived in Lindrop Street, Her name was Ludies Britto. I also had a friend called Diane Tarnowski who lived in a block of flats -the only ones in Stephendale Road. Her father was Polish and her mother was Scottish.
