I got married to a John Whitten in 1965 who lived in Hazlebury Rd. I moved in with his mum for two years and then we got a flat of our own further down the road in 1967. We gave the man in the Estate Agents who let the flats an envelope containing money, it was said to be for a drink for him to give us the next flat that became vacant. I had two daughters - Justina Whitten born in 1966 and the other Beleata Whitten in 1969. Both children were born in a hospital in Kensington, I gave birth to my two youngest sons in the lower flat in 80 Hazlebury Road. Adam Whitten born in 1971 and Warren Whitten born in 1976. I brought up four children in that two bed roomed flat.
This was taken in 80 Hazlebury Rd in 1970 when I lived there and we had no bath rooms so the children were having their weekly bath in the tin tub. Justina Whitten was my eldest and then there was Beleata Whitten my second born. We was moved out into Rosebury Road by the council around 1978 who started buying up the houses on the Heaver Estate as there was no bathrooms and the families in the lower flats had to go outside to their toilets. We then brought our house off of the Council and was there until all the children had left home. We got divorced but we are all still a close family. *Read about Veda Whitten nee Roberts earlier years in Cranbury Road section.
