I had my First Communion at Our Lady's on the 3rd June 1945 and the priest was Father J.M.Shaw. I was then aged six. I do remember Father Shaw who was very well respected in the area by Catholics and non Catholics alike. I suppose his popularity was enhanced by the support he gave to the local people during the dark days of The Blitz. He was replaced by an ex army chaplain whose name I think was Becket. For some reason my parents did not take to him and our attendance at church became much less regular. My first Holy Communion Certificate.
