Derek Sayers- Star Cinema Print E-mail

I do remember the 'Kinema'. Note that it is spelled with a "K" not a "C" this is because it was built I believe by a German. I knew it after WW2 when it was know as a flea pit; a cheap place similar to the Broadway Cinema in Waltham Green (Fulham Broadway).

The ticket office was in the centre with entrances on either side, I believe one was for upstairs and the other downstairs. The lighting on the sides of the auditorium were gas lit; little naked flames. I seem to remember that it cost about one shilling (5p) to go in. It was bought up by another company who did announce a re-opening but I do not think it ever happened.

The photo I took was taken about 19555/56 when it has been closed for some time.
