In 1952 while my husband Alan was at sea I worked in the ticket office for about three weeks with a Mrs Gilbert who also lived in Oakbury Road. I was sorry when it closed I used to go to the cinema when I was young with my parents as a treat 'if I was good'. There used to be a Saturday morning showing for children. I later went there with friends and with Alan. Over the years I saw Snow White, A Town Like Alice, Bambi and so many other films. The sound was very good. It was a nice cinema and so close to home. I was sorry when it closed down. I don't go to the cinema much now the noise is too loud.
