If there was a film on during the day or even at night which did not allow children unless accompanied by an adult we used to wait outside in Wandsworth Bridge Road out of sight of the cashier and ask people to take us in with them. This could be men or women on their own or couples going to the pictures. We would give them the money for our ticket and as soon as they got us in we would go and sit in another part of the Cinema. Can you imagine doing this in this day and age with all the dangers to children on their own. Like all the local Cinemas the Star was known as "The Bug Hutch" or "The Flea Pit." We often went to Saturday morning pictures in the 3d or 6d seats. Used to watch all the kids favourites like Roy Rogers, Gene Autry etc.
