Snowy White the park keeper lived in the little house by Hugon Road gate. If you misbehaved he would come round the house and tell your parents. There was a hill over in the corner of the park near the swings that was used during the War for siting the a.a.guns. There was a big civil defence exercise carried out in the Park where volunteers were buried in sewer pipes (above surface) to make believe they were buried in rubble. Many years later when they got rid of the allotments at the Peterborough Road end of the park and got rid of the red clay football pitches (laid to grass). Any one remember "Get off the Grass!" Collier, who was the groundsman?
